Christ and no Other - the Source of our Abundance

July 2, 2024

Hi!  How is each and every one? Today is the 2nd day of July.  We are in the second half of the year 2024.  We cannot stop fostering the spirit of joyful hope for more and good and beautiful things and happenings these coming months.  The only way to move forward is to seek Christ, find Christ, love Christ.  He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  Without Him you and I can do nothing.  With Him everything is possible.  He always wins battles.  Encounter Christ and cultivate and nurture a loving intimate relationship with Him.  It is the only thing worthwhile to do in this life and everything else falls into place.  Put your trust in Him Who loves each one of us freely, totally, faithfully and fruitfully. Remember that God created you and me to know Him, to love Him and to share His happiness with Him in Heaven.  Likewise He sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to suffer and die for each one of us that you and I may have life eternal; that you and I may be saved but as I always underline not without you and I wanting to be saved.  Simply put you and I need to love Him in return with our life patterned after His life and His will for each one of us.  How fitting then is the following excerpt on the way to follow Christ’s life through the virtue of humility (From Broken Gods, Hope, Healing, and the Seven Longings of the Human Heart, Gregory K. Popcak, Ph. D. Ch 4).

Practicing Humility:  Action Items

Living in humility promotes abundance by helping you cultivate meaningfulness, intimacy, and virtue.  Reflect and respond to the following questions:

Meaningfulness results when we place our gifts at the service of others.  What ways can you use your gifts to serve the people closest to you more effectively?

Intimacy results when we are willing to see the world through the eyes of others.  In what situations will you strive to be more receptive to the experience/perspective of someone close to you?

Virtue results when we seek to learn what life is trying to teach us about ourselves through the challenges we face.  What is life trying to teach you through the difficulties you are encountering in your present circumstances?

The Divine Longing for Abundance:  A Promise

Throughout this chapter, we have examined the nature of the divine longing for abundance, the keys to achieving abundance, how pride distorts this longing, and finally, how authentic humility enables us to open our hearts to learn the lessons God wants to teach us through both the experiences of our life and the lives of others.

As we conclude this chapter, I want to remind you once again how much God desires your wholeness and fulfillment by reminding you of the words of St. John Paul the Great:  “People are made for happiness.  Rightly, then, you thirst for happiness.  Christ has the answer to this desire of yours.  But he asks you to trust him.”

I pray that you will know the joy that comes from trusting Christ, the source of our abundance.  For his greatest desire is to help you find fulfillment in this life in ways that will lead to your divinization in the next!

Do you realize now how everything has been planned by Divine Providence?  God is a most loving and caring Father.  He wants nothing but the best for you and me.  If you and I will let Him, you and I will be the happiest children on earth as in heaven.  Our life will be meaningful, intimate and virtuously holy as perfect as Our Heavenly Father is perfect.

Again let us talk to God in our quiet intimate moments with Him in prayer about the virtue of humility and ask Him to help us practice it in our ordinary everyday life, relationships, challenges and activities.

See you in the next post, “May tomorrow be a perfect day; may you find love and laughter along the way; may God keep you in his tender care; ‘til He brings us together again.”

Affectionately,
