Suffering the Pain of Sin

opusdei.org Suffering unleashes love… Hi!  How is each and every one?  Today is the 26 th of the month and it is the feast day of St. Josemaria, the Saint of the Ordinary, Founder of Opus Dei. As expected the Church celebrates the feast of the saint of each day.  And this is what is happening in many parishes today.  For instance, there is one in Manila Cathedral, Intramuros, Manila this evening at 6. There are also a good number of short videos by Beta films and Formato available in Youtube .  We have been watching at least one each evening and I find every film so good, soothing and revitalizing for the whole family.   They are short and sweet videos.   Following is the link , https://opusdei.org/es-es/article/encuentros-tertulias-san-josemaria-brasil-peru-brafa-argentina/ Today’s post is an excerpt on suffering the pain of sin (From Joseph Tissot, How to profit from your faults pp. 112-113). St. Francis de Sales recommends in one of his letters:  “My daughter, go in peac

What Does “Making Satisfaction” Mean?

Hi!  How is each and every one?  Just this past week, last Friday we celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the next day, Saturday we celebrated The Immaculate Heart of Mary, His mother, our mother too.  And then Sunday was Father’s Day! Indeed family celebrations.  Even the two volcanos, Mayon and Taal, celebrated in their own way.  Nature has its own ways of responding out of necessity.       In this post, you and I are also challenged to respond in the way we ought according to our personal circumstances and relationship with the One who created us, the one Who gives and Who takes.  To Him be the glory in and of our lives.  Following is the excerpt on making satisfaction for our misgivings, disobedience towards Him and towards the others (From Joseph Tissot, How to profit from your faults pp. 111-112).        According to St. Gregory, love cannot remain inactive:  “It manifests itself in deeds.”  And the recollection of our faults should be used to p

Gaining New Merits

Hi!  How is each and every one?  Last Sunday, second Sunday in Ordinary time, we celebrated the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ ( Corpus Christi ).  We are now within the octave (eight days after).  In many areas the Church celebrates Solemn Benediction giving due importance, praise and reverence to the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. We consider the depths of our Lord’s love for us, which has led him to stay with us, hidden under the appearances of the Blessed Sacrament.      St. Josemaria:  Comforted by Christ’s presence and nourished by his Body, we will be faithful during our life on earth and then we will be victors with Jesus and his Mother in heaven.  “O death, where is your victory?  O death, where is your sting?...  Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor 15:55-57).      Following is a continuation (From Joseph Tissot, How to profit from your faults pp. 108-110) on the topic of merits.      The

The Power of Love

Hi!   How is each and every one?   The meaningful force behind life is no other but Love.   Authentic Love is what brings and sustains each one to life. Following is another excerpt on the Power of love (From Joseph Tissot, How to profit from your faults pp. 107-108 ).   I can only suggest that you and I turn to the Spirit of Love and ask Him to teach us how to love.   This will require that you and I develop a close relationship with Him in quiet moments of prayer, listening and heeding His leads.                     Fb Gemfields “I beg of you, Theotimus, to look at dear Magdalen, how she weeps with love:   they have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they have laid him.   But after finding him through sighs and tears, she holds onto and possesses him through love.   Imperfect love desires and needs him.   Repentance seeks and finds him.   Perfect love holds and embraces him.   They say that in their natural state the rubies of Ethiopia have a very pale color of fi
